We started the day by getting up early to take a bus down to the Kotel. We were given a tour of the tunnels built underneath the Muslim Quarter and saw many CG recreations of the temple, as well as a plastic model. After that, we walked over to see David's City, where the city of Jerusalem began. We changed into our shorts and water shoes, and then took a trip through Hezakiah's Tunnel, a tunnel built when the Assyrians held a seige on the city. The tunnel was hand chisseled from both sides, meeting in the middle, and carried water from the Gihon Spring into the seiged city. Mr. Shryvers had the hardest time in the tunnel, as he had to constantly duck down for fear of hitting his head on the rocky cieling above. Afterwards, we changed back in to our modest clothing and ate shwarma and pizza in the Jewish Quarter. We went down to the Western Wall one last time, and made sure to stick notes in its cracks and feel the 2 000 year old, 5 000 tonne stones. Michal took us on a tour of the Jewish Quarter, showing us mountains, archaeological digs and a timeline of the history of Jerusalem. Then we returned to the hotel to rest for a few hours, before eating a festive dinner to prepare for the Chag.
